The Slovene Presidency of the Council and T&E, European Federation for Transport and Environment wish to promote an international conference to discuss the results and experiences from road user charging schemes in operation in Europe, present plans for introduction of such schemes in additional Member States as well as debate the benefits and opportunities from the internalization of external costs of transport. The discussion should focus on economic, technical and political aspects of charging and make a contribution to the preparation of a new EU legislative framework on fair and efficient pricing.
