Transport Research Arena 2008 is the second in a series of European conferences dedicated to road transport, organised in cooperation with the European Commission, the ERTRAC (the European Road Transport Research Advisory Council) technological platform and CEDR (Conference of European Directors of Roads). The local organisers of the Ljubljana event are: the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, DDC Consulting & Engineering, and the DRC (Road and Traffic Research Company). The main objective of TRA conferences is to strengthen cooperation between all participants in the area of road transport development, namely researchers, industry, users and national and local government administrations. The main topics of the Ljubljana conference are: Transport and Climate Change, Transport Safety, and Green and Smart Transport.  The programme, consisting of six parallel sessions, will be accompanied by a large exhibition and an additional programme. It is expected that the event will be attended by 1200 participants, including Commissioners of the European Commission and other distinguished guests.
