The informal session of the Visa Working Party will focus on a more detailed review of the proposal for a Regulation establishing a Community Code on Visas (document ref. 11752/06) that will be forwarded to Slovenia towards the end of the first reading in Parliament. The first reading is expected to be completed during the first quarter of the next year. In the next stage, the second reading, close cooperation with the European Parliament (specifically the parliamentary Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs – LIBE) will be required. The informal meeting of the Visa Working Party will focus on examining the Member States’ positions with a view to identifying compromise solutions in areas that already proved problematic during discussion of proposed changes to the Common Consular Instructions (CCI).
