Even though there is not a European financial instrument devoted only to tourism, many opportunities are offered by the various EU funds. The aim of this conference is therefore to spread the knowledge on how the existing EU financial instruments managed centrally by the Commission in the field of research, entrepreneurship and intelligent energy (Competitiveness and Innovation Programme), environment (LIFE+), life-long learning and culture have been and can be used by the different tourism stakeholders in order to foster the implementation of the "Agenda for a sustainable and competitive European tourism".

Two panels will examine the experiences of the previous 2000-06 programme framework and demonstrate the new European funding opportunities and the implementation process for the period 2007-13. Project leaders will demonstrate successful tourism projects funded with support from the European Commission. Open debates will follow allowing the participants to share experiences and exchange views and ideas.
