On 24 June 2008, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and the current President of the European Council, Janez Janša, will present the conclusions of the June European Council meeting held on 19 and 20 June 2008 to the members the Parliament at an extraordinary session of the European Parliament in Brussels.

At the June European Council meeting, the last one under the auspices of the Slovenian Presidency chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and the current President of the European Council, Janez Janša, the Heads of State and Government of the European Union focused on the outcome of the Irish referendum on the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, measures facing the consequences of rising food and oil prices, the Millennium Development Goals and the Western Balkans.
