More: | The COTER Commission meeting and conference in Slovenia provide an opportunity to discuss territorial cohesion and, in particular, to draw up proposals on the potential contribution of territorial cooperation to enhancing territorial cohesion. This is more relevant than ever in the light of the Commission’s decision to make the debate on territorial cohesion one of the key themes for 2008 (NB the specified objective of the COTER Commission meeting and conference on territorial cohesion is particularly important to Slovenia since it has subnational authorities located near its external borders in proximity to potential partners both in other EU Member States and outside the EU). Several projects are already under way in this field in Slovenia and so the fact that the event is being held in this country provides an excellent opportunity to present Slovenia’s prior achievements and current plans to representatives of the regional and local authorities of the countries of the EU and the Western Balkans. The event aims to promote understanding of the full scope of territorial cohesion and territorial cooperation dynamics in the enlarged EU. |
