More: | The EU finance ministers will commence the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) meeting by adopting conclusions relating to the assessment of Stability and Convergence Programmes of the second group of Member States. In the context of preparations for the Spring European Council, to be held on 13 and 14 March 2008, the ministers will adopt the ECOFIN Report to the European Council on Broad Economic Policy Guidelines 2008–2010 and Country-Specific Integrated Recommendations. They will also adopt the ECOFIN Interim report on financial stability issues and exchange views on sovereign wealth funds. The ministers will continue with the adoption of conclusions pertaining to Council priorities for the 2009 budget. In the area of taxation, an orientation debate on the fight against tax fraud will take place; the ministers will also be informed on the state of play related to taxation of savings. |
