ESFRI Meeting

ESFRI Meeting
Date: 06.03. - 07.03.2008
Venue: Brdo
Policy area: Competitiveness
Type of event: Conferences and Expert Meetings

ESFRI stands for the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures and is an intergovernmental consultative body of the EU Member States. One seat in the Forum is also allocated to a European Commission representative. In addition to the delegates from the Member States, ESFRI meetings are also attended on a permanent basis by delegates from important international organisations such as the European Space Agency, the European Investment Bank, etc.

ESFRI completed its first operational period by adopting a “strategic roadmap” identifying 35 projects in the following fields: humanities and social sciences, biomedical sciences, engineering and life sciences. The roadmap should help Europe attain and exceed the achievements of researchers from the United States, Japan and elsewhere. The current ESFRI meeting, which is one of four annual ESFRI meetings, will focus on regional development from the point of view of smaller and new Member States.
