Prime Minister of the Slovenian Government and President of the European Council Janez Janša will participate in the extraordinary plenary session of the European Parliament. He will inform the Members of the European Parliament about the outcome of the Spring European Council held in Brussels on 13 and 14 March 2008. Heads of State and Government of the EU Member States therefore discussed in particular a timeframe and key principles for the climate change and energy package, a launch of the new cycle of the renewed Lisbon Strategy for growth and jobs (2008-2010), as well as the provision of stability in international financial markets.

A discussion on the situation in Tibet will be held in the second part of the extraordinary session of the European Parliament, where a statement on behalf of the EU Council will be issued by State Secretary Janez Lenarčič.
