In the margins of the May plenary session of the European Parliament, the Head of the Slovenian Government and President of the European Council, Mr Janez Janša, will attend the official launch of European Maritime Day.

In accordance with the draft agenda of this month's plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the State Secretary for European Affairs Janez Lenarčič will on Tuesday afternoon reply to an oral question  about misleading "directory companies". Later on, the Minister of Transport Radovan Žerjav will participate in a debate on a legislative package covering road transport.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Minister for the Environment Janez Podobnik will contribute to a debate on scientific facts concerning climate change, while State Secretary Lenarčič will join a debate on progress by Turkey. In the afternoon part of the session, State Secretary Lenarčič will deliver two statements on behalf of the Council: on the situation in Burma/Myanmar, and on the situation in China following the recent earthquake. He will also answer a question posed to the Council on a global treaty to ban uranium weapons. In conclusion to Wednesday's afternoon session, he will answer oral questions from Members of the European Parliament.
