EU Presidency statement on the helicopter crash near Skopje

The Slovenian Presidency wishes to express its deepest sympathy following the news of the tragic death of 11 members of the Armed Forces of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in a helicopter crash earlier today near Skopje. It is particularly regrettable that the event occurred on the return of the group from their mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina as a part of the ALTHEA operation.

The Presidency wishes to offer its sincere condolences to the President and Government in Skopje, and to the families of the deceased on this tragic loss.

Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the General Affairs and External Relations Council, Dr Dimitrij Rupel, spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Antonio Milososki, and personally expressed his deepest condolences.
