On Tuesday 1 April at 3 p.m., the President of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, will brief the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament (AFET) on the discussions held at the Informal Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers (Gymnich), which took place at the Brdo Congress Centre, Slovenia, on Friday and Saturday, 28 and 29 March. In his report, Minister Rupel will devote special attention to the European perspective for the Western Balkans, one of Slovenia’s foreign policy priorities. Ministers of the Western Balkan countries as well as representatives of the European Union in the region participated in the discussion on this topic. Other main topics at the Gymnich meeting included the Middle East, relations between the EU and the Russian Federation, and multicultural dialogue, with special emphasis on the developments in Tibet and the release of the film Fitna by Geert Wilders, a member of the Dutch Parliament.
