At the Informal Meeting of the High Level Working Party on Taxation, the representatives of the Member States and the European Commission will be discussing potential tax measures to promote environmental protection. The purpose of the meeting is to initiate discussions on tax measures promoting environmental protection, thereby providing the Commission with appropriate guidelines for planning further activities in this field. The basic discussion document will be a Green Paper on market-based instruments for environment and related policy purposes, produced by the Commission in spring 2007.
