During Slovenia’s EU Council presidency, the 25th round of the EU-China Human Rights Dialogue is to be held in Brdo on 15 May 2008, a biannual event involving an EU troika delegation at the level of the directors of foreign ministries. The meeting will be centred on the situation and protection of human rights in China and Europe, including the right to freedom of expression and association, minority rights, immigrant workers’ rights, and EU-China cooperation within international organisations, particularly the Human Rights Council.

The dialogue will be preceded by a two-day legal seminar, with academics and non-governmental organisations focusing on the rights of the child and the right to health. The meeting will be followed by a field trip to the institutions of the Italian minority in the bilingual area of the coastal municipalities.
