More: | A ministerial EU Troika meeting with Nigeria will be headed on the EU side by the current President of the General Affairs and External Relations Council, Slovenian Minister for Foreign Affairs Dimitrij Rupel, and on the Nigerian side by the Nigerian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ojo Maduekwe. Political cooperation between the EU and Nigeria belongs to the context of cooperation under the Cotonou Agreement. The ministerial Troika is an opportunity to strengthen political dialogue between the EU and Nigeria after an interval of several years. The agenda of the ministerial Troika covers the global themes that are part of the Africa-EU Joint Strategy adopted at the Africa-EU Summit, issues connected with African-EU relations (in particular security and development challenges) and matters of importance to relations between Nigeria and the EU. On the margins of the ministerial Troika EU-Nigeria, the Slovenian and Nigerian Ministers of Foreign Affairs will also have a separate bilateral meeting. |
