The Conference, a prime opportunity for the representatives of Member States to exchange experience on implementing the common agricultural policy, will be attended by Directors and Heads of Sector of Paying Agencies from EU Member States and candidate countries, representatives of certification bodies, the Council, the European Commission and the European Court of Auditors. The Conference will focus on two broad themes: the new guidelines for the certification of paying agencies and the development of Community law in the area of common agricultural policy. The agenda for the first day of the Conference comprises a plenary session, followed by workshops on each of the two aforementioned themes. The conclusions of the Conference will be presented on the second day. The European Commission expert group for this field is expected to convene at the workshop on the certification of paying agencies. This has not so far been customary practice, and it represents a significant step forward in the way conferences are organised.
