Before the end of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency, the Slovenian Minister of Culture, Vasko Simoniti, will address the Members of the European Parliament's Committee on Culture and Education on 23 June 2008. He will present to the CULT Committee the work in the field of culture and audiovisual policy during the Slovenian Presidency.

Among the achievements of the Slovenian Presidency, the President of the Council of EU will especially stress the adoption of the Work Plan for Culture for the next three-year period and of the Council Conclusions on Intercultural Competences, by which the Slovenian Presidency wishes to promote intercultural dialogue, one of the priorities of our presidency. In the audiovisual policy field the Minister will, inter alia, especially stress the importance of the broad discussion on creative contents online promoted by the Slovenian Presidency, and the adoption of the Conclusions on Media Literacy; he will also speak about the adoption of the general approach on the new Safer Internet programme by the Council.

In addition, Minister Simoniti will present the achievements of conferences organised by the Ministry of Culture during the Slovenian Presidency, and the achievements of the efforts to include culture in the international cooperation of the EU with partner countries.
