The Presidency of the European Union welcomes the determination of the Zimbabwean people to exercise their fundamental democratic right to vote in the elections on 29 March.
The Presidency calls on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to announce the official results as soon as possible to demonstrate its independence and to avoid unnecessary speculation. This would end the current uncertainty and prevent the risk of rising tensions.
