International conference ‘Europe, World and Humanity in the 21st Century’ opening tomorrow

The international conference ‘Europe, World and Humanity in the 21st Century’ will be the central event in honour of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. The three-day conference will focus on finding answers to two key questions: ’What message can the Europe of today send to the world about understanding global issues, given its own humanistic tradition?’ and ‘What does globalism, which we still cannot comprehend fully, have to say to Europe?’

The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday 10 April, at 7 p.m., in the Grand Hall of the National Gallery. The keynote speeches will be delivered by Jan Figel’, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture and Youth, Dr Vasko Simoniti, the Slovenian Minister of Culture, and Dr Dean Komel, the head of conference programme.

The international conference, organised by the Nova revija Institute for the Humanities with the support of the Slovenian Ministry of Culture within the programme of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, will be attended by many renowned authorities in the areas of philosophy, literature, religiology and politics from ten European countries.

Journalists are invited to the press conference to be held on Thursday 10 April, at 4 p.m., in the White Hall of the Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana, prior to the international conference ‘Europe, World and Humanity in the 21st Century; Dialogue in Culture – Dialogue between Cultures’.
