President of the General Affairs and External Relations Council, Dr Dimitrij Rupel, outlines Slovenian Presidency priorities in the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs

Slovenian Foreign Minister and President of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council, Dimitrij Rupel, today outlined the priorities of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency in the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs. Minister Rupel explained the main guidelines of the programme, which is based on the process of ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon, implementation of the Lisbon Strategy, the energy and environment package, intercultural dialogue and policy towards the Western Balkans.

Minister Rupel's report included information on conclusions adopted at yesterday’s GAERC meeting, with special emphasis on the offer of a political agreement to Serbia. Minister Rupel then answered questions from the MEPs.
