OSCE - Permanent Council No. 716: EU statement on the report of the Informal Quintet Ministerial Meeting

Statement on behalf of the European Union delivered by H.E. Ambassador Stanislav Raščan

The EU would like to seize this occasion to reiterate its belief that the decision reached at the Madrid Ministerial Council on the Chairmanships-in-Office for the next three years gives us a unique chance to structure the work of the OSCE with a forward-looking perspective.

We are pleased that the first Informal Quintet Ministerial Meeting was a success and hope that the relations between the past, present and future Chairmanships will continue to be characterised by a spirit of effective cooperation leading to concrete benefits for the OSCE.

The candidate countries Turkey, Croatia* and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, the countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidate countries Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia, the European Free Trade Association countries and members of the European Economic Area Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, as well as Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Armenia align themselves with this statement.

* Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process
